Bamboo Culms and the Journey They Take to Becoming a "Bonar Custom Bamboo Rod"
The strong, fiberous Tonkin Bamboo that I use in my bamboo rods only grows in a 30 square mile area in China and comes to me in 12' culms, nowhere else on earth can this strong Tonkin cane grow. The culms are then cleaned in preparation for the sun to do the next step, drying and changing the tone for the choice of bamboo rod I want to create.
The next step is to prepare the cane via splitting the culms into strips to the desired size for a particular rod taper.
